Georg Mayr, Latin Georgius Marius (1564–1623) was a Bavarian Jesuit priest and Hebrew grammarian.〔Biblical and Near Eastern studies: essays in honor of William Sanford La Sor, Gary A. Tuttle - 1978 "Georg Mayr (1564-1623) was a Bavarian who, as a Jesuit, spent practically the whole of his life teaching Hebrew. His Hebrew grammar (Augsburg, 1616) went through many editions and, in addition, he published in Hebrew a great many translations."〕 In addition his translations into Hebrew he also published the illustrated version of the catechism of Peter Canisius, and then translations into Greek (Ingolstadt 1595) and Hebrew (1620).〔''Petrus Canisius: Reformer der Kirche : Festschrift zum 400.''
